Pollution Control recently signed in Brest, France, a Cooperation
Agreement with CEDRE

(www.cedre.fr) in which both parties
agree to cooperate in scientific and technical areas in the control of
hydrocarbon spills and other chemical substances. Our President, Mr.

The research and development laboratories of CEDRE includes testing of
chemicals, materials and equipment for the response of oil pollution,
behaviour of marine life affected by pollution and dispersants as well
as documenting all major and minor incidents of spilled contaminants
around the world.
All findings are documented and published for the benefit of the
petroleum and chemical industry, response organizations and governments.
CEDRE Director, Mr. Michel Girin, the Adjunct Director Mr. Christophe
Rousseau, the Research and Development Director Mr. Pierre Richard and
the Laboratory Director Mr. Ronan Jezequel met with Mr. Vukelja and
exchanged experiences related to pollution events ato discussed the
terms of the Cooperation Agreement which was signed on November 29th
(?), 2007.
It is also important to point out the excellent coordination work of Mrs.
Claudine Le Mut - Tiercelin, which is the Delegate for the Central
American and Caribbean Region, her being the person responsible to
ascertain the potential of this relationship and by constantly assisting
to our oil spills excercises, training courses and conferences in Panama.
Upon signing of the Agreement, Mr. Vukelja expressed his satisfaction of
reaching this importat milestone and praised the work of Mr. Michel
Girin, a well known proffesional in pollution matters as well as an
authority in enviromental issues and author of many didactic books for
children about the environment.
It is forseen that this agreement will assist OPC in reaching its
regional vision and long term plans of expanding its services to other
parts of Latin America and becoming the leader in pollution and
